Every time Im jigging with a spoon, my line and spoon keep spinning, I attach my spoon to a swival snap,Should I be using some other type of setup? any suggestions would be great.

A few things that you might want to try to help stop the twist problem.

Close your bail only by hand and this will help alot.

The smaller the spool,the more line twist you will recieve.

Dont reel while your drag is letting out line.

You could also add a small barrel swivel about 2-3 ft above your lure which should also help you out.

Any and all of these things will close to eliminate your problem.

I also use a barrel swivel about 18" to 2' up the line.

Ihad this problem with my summer crappie ultra lite and tried this little trick and it worked pretty well. when I put new line on I fill a 5 gal bucket with water, put line thru all the eyes of the rod then tie line to spool, then toss the line into the bucket and fill spool keeping slight pressure on line with fingers or throw spool into lake,(watch carfully so that line doesnt come off and spool goes to bottom) this might be tough in the winter though . This really seemed to help stop twisting and line memory problems. hope this helps.

I like to tie my spoon (and anything I'm jigging with) to a small "leader" about 2-3 ft. long and hook that to a swivel on my main line. This keeps it from twisting and keeps the presentation more realistic looking. After you re-tie enough times, you have to tie a new leader but I like the way it works.

If you do try this...make sure the rod has big enough eyes for a swivel to fit through or it's pretty pointless. Good luck!

Ditto what the above said.. if you watch your spoon as you reel in that baby swists up pretty bad when you reel in. I add a small swiv about 2' up the line.

Also, the tips on closing the bail by hand and not reel against the drag are a big help as well.
