Boat Batteries

walleye_dog

Question

I have recently bought a fishing boat and am in the proccess of winterizing. It has been awhile since I have owned one, so is it better to pull the batteries and store them in my basement or is it better to keep them in the boat and maintained on the on-board charger? They are Interstate deep-cycle marine batteries. Just wondering what the best case scenario would be.

I pull my starting battery which I do not have hooked to a charger. I have two batteries for the trolling motor which are hooked to the on board charger and I just leave them in place with the charger plugged in. I get a lot of years out of these batteries using this method.
