License plate on fish house

Ryan V is right. They do not consider a fishhouse as a trailer. There are a few exceptions of course. But if you are just using it for ice fishing and towing it from one lake to another the shelter tag is all that is required. If, however, you use it for a cabin for hunting or camping, then it will need to be licensed as a camper. Check with your local DMV for the specific definitions.

as long as it is only a fish house, you don't need to register it as a trailer. if you use it in the off season as an enclosed trailer for hauling stuff, then it's different. or if you use it in the summer as a camper as stated above, then it's also different. it's use is intended as a fish house, therefore you only have to buy the shelter tag. if you'd have to buy a license plate also, that would be double taxation and isn't legal.

if all you do with it is haul it around to fish, you need nothing other than the dnr shelter tag. if you want to use it for anything further, just stop at your local DMV and they will be able to tell you what to do.
