CO2 detectors?

What's the difference between home rated ones and RV rated? I'd like to get one that runs off of external power and not the houses power. But from what I've read, home detectors are not suited for RV/FishHouse use?

Thoughts?

I bought from the local Home improvement store. It takes a 9 volt battery. I replace the battery every fall. Isn't carbon monoxide....carbon monoxide? I never heard of them being different from RV to Home. But I am certianly no expert. Please someone speak up here....

I think its just a power choice option as to 120 or a battery operated unit.

Mine is 120 with a battery back up in power loss in the house. Also has a "digital" read out as oppossed to just standard alarm.

The fish house has always had the 9v type

I called KIDDE and they said the home style is not rated for RV use. I never asked why, but they said you can get an Atwood version (I think that was the name) from an RV supplier. I looked up Atwood and theirs claims to be vibration resistant, I wonder if that's the difference?

WENT ON-LINE CHAT WITH A RV OUTLET after local dealer told me there was no issue between the RV rating and a home unit.

Below was the conversation I had with him. Not sure what to think, maybe they were just trying to sell parts, or maybe there is no difference.

Steve: What is the difference between a RV rated detector and a home 110 unit ?

You are now speaking with Glen Hackler of Customer Service.

Glen Hackler: Hello

Steve: hi

Glen Hackler: the home unit runs off 110v

Steve: RV rating means nothing ?

Steve: both built the same ?

Glen Hackler: yes, pretty much the same unit

Glen Hackler: are you looking at the CCI

Steve: Looking for clarification on difference of a 110 or 12v RV rated model. Was at local RV dealer buying a light and he said there was no difference just power related. The rating he seemed to ignore as crucial ?

Glen Hackler: do you need 12v

Steve: no.. battery operated is fine.. just didnt understand the rating issue

Glen Hackler: you can find home units and 12 v at www.safetydetectors.net which is one of our companies also

Steve: so I can ignore the RV rating thing as both work the same in either condition of use ?

Glen Hackler: yes

Glen Hackler: they both do the same thing, just their power source

Steve: Thats what I thought

Steve: thanks for your help

Glen Hackler: your welcome
