What makes a guy "the best?

This is a good question and I think we will have many different thoughts on this. Either for a one year shot or over a guys carreer what makes him the best for that time.

Is it

top 5's?

Wins?

Top 10's?

Total points earned?

Laps lead?

Laps completed?

Poles?

IMO I'd say it's laps lead. I think a driver should be awarded points for each lap lead, not 5 points for one lap under caution.

The only lap to lead that really matters is the last one!

I say go back to the winston cup point system but award more points to the winners of each race, then we will know who the real champ is!

I personally can not pick just one, all them combined would make a driver the best. A driver with the most wins, most top 5's, most top 10's, most laps led, most championships won, would have to be the best driver.

I chose laps lead because a guy can lead every lap of the race and get taken out by some lapped putz handing the win to someone that is in second due to fuel stategy. Sure, the guy that won put himself in that position but was he the best for the day? I think not.

I think that it is the person who has the dominated car.

There seems to be one guy who is the class of the field.

The laps lead is a good judge as well.
