JohnMickish
Sr. was a very good driver, and I'll throw in that he was the best for the era that he raced. Petty was the best for the era that he raced and Gordon will probably be the best for the current era.It is very hard to compare the three together since they drove drastically different cars on different tracks. walleyeking#8
point well taken......I would agree with the driver/crew chief relationship and would have to agree that if Gordon and Evernham were still together, they might have won another championship, and might have won quite a few more races. I have a great memory, but it is just too short, if i remember correctly, hendricks did not have that many cars in cup when gordon won those championships, so this could also be a factor on why he hasn't gotten his 5th or maybe even his 6th. I feel it is hard to have 4 or more teams as a owner and keep all of them competitive week in and week out. There are so many more things that can go wrong or become neglected when you have all that to contend with. That being said, I would have to agree with most of you on your points, except for one, Dale Jr. is not overrated by any means. He is so popular because of his personality and because his father was loved by many a nascar fans. Jr. will win a championship before his career is over, mark my words on that. It might even happen this year, the last lap of the last race might determine that.
