setterguy
Good morning for bird hunting, went to a spot about 90 miles north of the cities hunted for 2 1/2 hours. 7 points 4 shots 3 ruffies fell. 2 woodcock points (surprised there weren't more) Dogs performed well, birds were YOUNG. Leaves are 90% gone from trees and wind was perfect. All birds came on some kind of edge, all in all a good day for a quick hunt.
brittman
I guess I chased on the timberdoodles out of the county - that or the full moon. Saw 21 points on Thursday and another 12 points on Friday Friday's spot was about 35 miles N of the spot I hunted Th. Seems about 10 - 15 days early for those kinds of numbers. metrojoe
I was out Friday and only had 3 points, but a total of 15 flushes. I also saw 7 on the road while driving around. I only saw 2 woodcock on this outing, but I saw 7 or 8 last weekend and shot 3.

setterguy
Those look like much bigger birds than we were finding today. I wish we had more time, as we just started to get into them as we had to leave.

metrojoe
They sure have a nack for putting a tree between you and them, don't they?
brittman
Those out last Friday also know it was very WINDY. Shooting at woodcock as they rise over the aspens and take the wind! Fun.
Eye-lander
My results today near Mille Lacs, by myself, with no dog. -Flushes somewhere about 15 grouse, no woodcock. 6 shots, with 2 bagged. Beautiful day to be out in the woods all alone! The birds where I was were sure flushing early. I could not even see some of the flushes, only sound let me know they were there. But it was on public land that gets hit awful hard.
OUTDOORNUT
A tree or 10 between you and them!!! ha ha Got out yesterday before the crud slushed in and was batting a 1000 on the first three, but ended the day with only those three to show for it. We bumped 10 total.

I was hunting a new place away from areas with lots of pressure so the birds could be a couple years old.
