Cedar Point Lodge- Eagle Lake

Recommended Posts

My mother-in-law mentioned one of her coworkers talked to her about Cedar Point Lodge on Eagle Lake, and indicated they would maybe interested in heading up there next year. So obviously I'm excited about the chance of a Canada trip next year. Anybody have any feedback on the place? My mother-in-law came away impressed with what her co-worker said. Also, how would you describe the fishery on Eagle Lake, especially in the area of the Lodge?

Thank you.

Andy

Hey DTE,

I have been to Cedar Point once and on Eagle 3 times total. The people at Cedar Point treated us well, but the fishing was very slow. In fact all of my trips up there were fairly poor. That said, all 3 resorts treated us very well.

I've stayed at Cedar Point many times. the fishing was so-so, but the owners are great. Pat and Sharon go far above the normal routine to make you happy and comfortable in your stay. Its a very family friendly place with reasonable rates. Personally, I would say eagle is an OK fishing lake, but there are a lot of others not far away that are much better. Of course you can always stay at Cedar Point as a base camp and fish a number of the area lakes as well. They also offer trips into backcountry lakes via plane or 4WD.

Here's my take.....

Eagle is a good lake to go to if you have a good amount of experience fishing Canadian waters, if not, you may be in trouble. The location of Cedar Point Lodge is not ideal to some of the best fishing spots on Eagle.(Vermilion Bay itself is often not fished by many) While I am sure they run a good place, I wouldn't stay on anywhere on Eagle except Andy Meyers Lodge, those guys over there know the fishing on Eagle like no one else does and will ensure you get on fish. On top of that, the service is outstanding.

As mentioned before, if you are taking a trip and don't plan on using something like the guys at AML lodge or fishing with guides on multiple days, Eagle is not always the best Candian option for everyone. There are certainly better action lakes for all other species, although Eagle is a wonderful place to get a trophy Pike, Musky, and Bass.

Thanks, that is the kind of feedback I was looking for. Considering what I'm hearing I almost think we'd be better off going to Vermilion instead. Plenty of quality resorts there along with good fishing. Plus having small children it will cut down travel time probably in half as I'm in Rochester, MN.

Thanks again.
