Beaver Creek Valley State Park?

Recommended Posts

I got accepted into Beaver Creek Valley State Park in Southern MN. I've never hunted this park before nor have I ever deer hunted in Southern MN. I was wondering if anyone has hunted this park or has any pointers on hunting the Southern MN bluffs and slopes landscape. This type of deer hunting is new to me.

Thanks,

Pete

Yeah. I can help here.

BCVSP is beautiful. Really beautiful. Appreciate that part of this hunt. It doesn't make a ton of sense to hunt a long and fairly wide piece of state park land (where hunting is not normally allowed) to thin out the deer herds down there. If the local farmers gave folks access to their land. It would go a lot further towards controlling an almost out of control population.

That said, try to work the outer edges of the park that share borders with agriculture. (Google maps with photo's will really help here) Be prepared for an outrageous drag-out. The only flat land might be the camp-sites.

Post your e-mail address, and I can get you some real inside information....

Dont know if you have a buck tag or a doe tag but if you have a buck tag wait for a hog.If you even shoot 1 less then 150 class thats stupid. I have seen lots over 170 class bucks in that area.Just wait it out you'll have good luck.hunting the edges the 1st day will be good but after that dig deeper and get there early way before anyone else does

Good luck

This is just great! I love this site... I can't believe the response I'm getting. I love deer hunting, but the last 3 years I didn't get a deer. My last deer was when I got accepted into Lake Elmo State Park. I can't wait for this year's hunt. I'm definitely going to email tjm, Mike and here's my email address for dog and anyone else with any advice. tjm and Mike please let me know if you don't receive an email from me.

Thanks,

Pete

Alot of the land on the way to My uncle's near there appears to be land purchased just to hunt. Those are the places You can't get permission for. Everybody else in the area probably won't let anyone else hunt because the area is pretty crowed with hunters. I'm having a hard time convincing people not to just pull in and go wherever they want when my group is in there. It's not my land, so I can't kick people out. My uncle just wants the deer numbers reduced and would have a hard time telling people no. Guys just need to realize that a crowded woods isn't a safe woods. I guess it's difficult to let a bunch of people in to hunt when You can't find or keep a place to hunt for yourself.
