Stratosman
Very disapointing, very. Thomas hits an inside pitch over the fence his first at bat, almost hits the same pitch his second at bat over the fence, so what does Crain give him....what the hell is that? I'm no manager, and I know the pitch was well inside, but he was all over the ball on the inside part of the plate. Again Crain proves his inconsistancy. It's only game one luckily, but this is a very bad loss.
eyepatrol
Santana only made a couple mistakes, but I think in this game the bigger mistakes were made by the coaching staff.1) Steeling Castillo in the 1st inning when Zito can't get a strike over the plate. Bad move.2) Not having Castillo attempt another bunt. Sure Bartlette nearly got picked off at 2nd, but that doesn't mean you abandon the bunt. Lost a run there.3) Pitching to Thomas in the 9th when the game is still 2-1. Biggest mistake. Thomas is in no way a threat to steal and the hitters behind him aren't all that dangerous. The whole team from top to bottom needs to perform much better from here on out if the Twins want to go to the ALCS. They looked like a deer in the headlights today.
Windy City Walleye Hunter
I didn't know Jesse Crain was Amish! What's with the chin fur? The Big Hurt didn't mind taking him downtown and dropping him off at the same stop as YO-Han. Windy
CALVINIST
I don't understand why they start Nevin, he hasn't done anything for the Twins They should have started the little pirhana Tyner or Lew in there instead.

Windy City Walleye Hunter
I hate to say "I told you so" but I warned you guys about Nevin. He was a bust and a head case here on the North side of town but we didn't pay that much attention to him here on the southside. Windy

You can watch the Twins play tomorrow, also. Grab a few of your buddies like Judie Garland and Dye and the rest of the fellas, pop some corn, and watch the game. beer batter
Why would they stick Nevin in the game come playoff time? How many games did the guy play during the season for us?? Maybe 10? Now come playoff time he pulls out Tyner and sticks in Nevin. I know Nevin had a good average against Zito in the past, but doesn't he believe in what got us there to begin with?Keep Nevin on pine in case he needs a bat late in a game, but please keep Tyner in the game. Willy
Nevin is a hack. He is the same type of deal as the Boone move last year. At least Tyner will give you professional at-bats. He's also the type of guy that got you were you are today. Nevin's numbers against Zito were the only reason he was playing. I think the guy is kinda a shell of what he was, which wasn't all that great to begin with. Lots of strikeouts. Go get em tomorrow. Zito is a good pitcher and we have a lot of lefthanded bats. We have done well against Loaiza and he is going tomorrow. We NEED to win tomorrow!
fishlips
Agree with you guys 100% on Nevin. Just compare the DH's for Oakland and the Twins. Oakland has Thomas at $500,000/yr 30+ homers. MN has Nevin at $10,000,000 this year and a 0.230 batting averge. Nevin is a stiff - Gardie needs his head examined for putting Nevin in the game. His at bats are a total waste...frustrating to see how poorly he performs.
bottomdweller
what the %$%$% in the eigth guy on second, no one out and they dont bunt the guy over to third. HHHHHHHHuge mistake.Batters needed to be patient. Oh wellllll we will get em tommorrow.
Mudcutter
The Twins were not the Twins on Tues. Castillo was the goat of the game in my op. The Twins will win game 2 as long a Nevin is riding the pine. That dude is washed up.
8-Ball
How do you figure he's the goat? He did not get a bunt down, but was on base 3 times. What we need is a hit or two from M&M boys. They were a combined 0 for 7 in Game 1.
