[Ice Yet]

I just bought a permanent fish house on Mille Lacs and was wondering if a generator hurts your fishing chances due to the noise? Any input would be great!

I figure they hear boats all summer and I still catch fish, but I still shut the gennerator down at key bite times (mornig and evening) just to be surpestitious.

Early in the year Yes I think it dose but by late jan unless you are in shallow you should be ok,try to run it as L2H stated off at peek times and for gosh sakes not all night long I donno.If you run it on a small hump or somthing like that with otther guys around fishing they will get P.O.'D IMO

What I do know, Get the quitest one you can aford{like honda] the guy with the shack next to you will thank you.

If you have an EU2000 and they get [PoorWordUsage]ed they are too close and you should be [PoorWordUsage]ed. A normal conversation is just as loud if not louder than those.

The EU series from Honda are the ka-schnitzel and shouldn't bother anyone.

Build a "dog house" for it. Make it a foot wider and about a foot longer and foot taller than the genset. make it out of cheap 1/4 inch ply. attach foam to the insides and top. leave the back open for the exhaust and leave a crack in the front for fresh intake. I have a box for mine and if you are 10 ft away you can barely hear it. Make sure you weight it down--full gas can works--or it will blow away. And they can be hard to catch on a windblown lake--trust me.

We have a Artic Cat 2500GD OHV 4-stroke generator and use it for alot of things.No one will get upset with the noise from this one.Only problem is I think Cat quit making them.
