i personally love the wooden ones with the bell init. the bigger reel takes less pull and also makes a great line counter as each time around is one foot in depth. i have never missed a bell at night, and usually by the end of the season i actually hear the pea inside the bell rolling before i hear the bell tumbling on the wodden dowels. ... paul

I make my own out of boards and dowl rods. Once you get a pattern you can make lots in one time. Just a sug. put two bells in them, cuz once in awhile a bell will drop out and sing to the fish, then you have no sound but it will make sound when a big fish grabs and runs.

cost is next to zero, just time.

I picked up a couple of these Otter rattle reels on closeout a couple of years ago. They have the clip to fit on any pole ( my Pro and CLAM 5600) so you can be as versitle as you want, or you could even take off the arm and create your own mount.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Here's a few patterns that may help if anyone else is interested. Each is 4" dia.
