feral pigs

Anyone hunt these on the south shore? Did they originate as domestic pigs or are they "wild boars" escaped off a game farm? I've heard there is a difference in eating quality.

They escaped from a game farm off of Hwy 13 but have been breeding in the wild. Contact the Wi. dnr and they will send you the info on them and hunting pigs. I spent a couple days last year hunting for them but not even a track.

From what I've been told that the Dnr shot quite a few, the deer hunters shot a bunch last year and some went back into the farm during winter. I havent heard of many sightings this year but there still has to be a few running around. Most likely on private land.

Yep, feral pigs seem to have disapeered west of the game farm. Last year 5 were taken on our land with over 30 seen through deer season. This year not a trace. Deer haven't been around much either this year. Thinking we may have wolves moved in the area.
