eyepatrol
Man!!! It just aint fair!!!! My dad lives on the lake we hunt. It's about 1000 acres with homes/town on the south side and farmland surrounding the east, west and north sides. Anyway, I went down to the shoreline at his house this morning to see how much rain water was sitting in the duck boat. Low and behold the geese were REALLY flying this morning!!! Now, I'm not just talking locals here. I'm talking about what I like to call Cacklers! Those small, what I believe to be, lesser Canadians! And anyone whose seen a flock of those knows they bunch up into huges flocks! Well, I saw one of those flocks this morning, maybe 40 or so in the flock and they were flying high in a gorgeous V headed south. Then I see three other flocks of regular Canadians flying way up there in the nose bleed section headed south also. Must be getting a little chilly up in Canada. Man am I stoked! outdoor ran
Yep, lots of big mile high V's heading south yesterday while we duck hunted in a 40mph wind. Counted over 25 big flocks.
tearin' lips
I talked to my dad today and he said that there is nothing staying north. Quite a few ducks, but most of the geese are bypassing the area and not hanging around like they did last year. My unlce was out scouting on wednesday for a hunt of friday and he said that he could not find much for food that would allow the honkers to stay around in the area for very long. Most of the fields that were good for opening weekend are now plowed and disced. My unlce did say that he saw a greater concentration of honkers on friday, so hopefully they don't all just pass through. I know I am looking forward to another nice field hunt or two!
