Yeah- and on ESPN tonight they had a graphic of the so-called best candidates for MVP-and no, Morneau was not on the screen It was (you guessed it, Jeter) and Papi. I can see Papi, but that will fade probably as the Sox are sinking out of the playoff pic. But I don't get how they can not even mention Morneau. Jeter is overrated, IMO. No way he has carried the Yanks like Morneau has us this year. I don't care if he is in the big apple or not. No comparison.

I hear your passion for Justin for MVP. But I have to say, Cuddy may be the twins MVP. Only becuz nobody expected a season like this from him. Santana is the MVP including pitchers.

Sorry guys, Jeter has it in the bag. He is in the biggest market and on the East coast. Morneau will split votes with Santana and that leaves Jeter to win it. The only way he can loose it now is if Chicago wins the devision, then Dye has a great shot at it, or if Santana does not give up another run for the rest of the year. friendly

I disagree, I can see Jeter not winning as all the sportwritters that vote on this don't live in NY and tend to bias RBI guys.

If Jeter was a shortstop for the Twins he wouldnt be mentioned either.

Its gonna be the east coast bias like always.

If Jeter wins it over Dye or Morneau I will be pretty upset. Jeter just has a big market and a big name behind him and that is usually all it takes.

Morneau should be MVP, when he started hitting the Twins started winning.

I'd be very surprised if anyone other than Jeter wins it. He probably gets good pitches because A-Rod bats behind him, but that's never hindered voters in the past. Jeter may win the batting title, and he may put up 100+ RBI this year too (91 right now). East coast bias and he's been a consistent player for a decade now.

I still think Morneau or Dye should win it, just saying I'd be surprised if Jeter doesn't.

He's a solid MVP candidate and there is no question who has carried our team offensively this season. It has been #1 Justin Morneau, and #2 Michael Cuddyer. These guys are # 1 and 2 in two-out RBI's. A stat that wasn't mentioned in that article that should have been. Those are all clutch hits.

Joe Mauer may garner some votes too, so will Santana.

Honestly, I don't think you want Morneau to win the MVP. Only for the fact that he will cost a ton if he does. Either way, the Twins have to lock this guy up forever. He is a Harmon Killebrew type player for this team. A superstar and stud hitter that will anchor our lineup until he retires.

My opinion....if Jeter wins the batting title, he'll get the MVP. It's the name, it's the team, it's the city. If Jeter doesn't win the batting title, then I believe the MVP is up in the air.

If the Twins for whatever reason don't make the playoffs, Justin will not win the MVP. Only way I see Justin winning the MVP is if the Twins make the playoffs and Jeter does not win the batting title. I think Justin should win it no matter what happens though.

Morneau strengthed his case last night against Ortiz, he looked like the better hitter.

5 hits on the night, an RBI, 2 runs scored and two doubles. Raised his average to .326. This guy is solid and no question an MVP.

He doesn't have the HR totals, but the RBI's he is gonna catch Ortiz and it might happen this series. Also, his average puts him 5th and he could very easily be third by the end of the week.

Peter Gammons is coming back tonight and will be reporting from Fenway. I'll be interested to hear what he has to say about Morneau vs. Ortiz for the MVP. He is as big a Boston backer as there is, but it is hard to ignore what Justin has done this year. Morneau also plays the field.

Ortiz's line last night - 0-5 with 3 K's. We have handled him great all year long.
