Fall Cats?

I've learned a ton from all of you guys and have gotten to the point where I can go out and find some flatheads in new areas. I'm a June through August guy (the last year or two)and I was wondering how late you guys fish cats into the fall. I have my nephew coming in from Vegas Sept. 23. I told him we'd give it a shot but I don't think I've ever fished flats in September (cuz I'm usually bowhunting.) Any general advise on where to find them? Thanks everybody...this site is the best!

I'll be fishing them this weekend as well.

Last weekend, pretty traditional cat spots were holding fish - snags & logjams, creek mouths. Both of these places that produced fish had a tremendous variation in bottom structure/depth.

I think we are still looking for areas with decent current and baitfish is a must.

Cut & live creek chubs & suckers have been doing pretty well. Don't be afraid to fish a healthy chunk of cutbait for flatheads.

I really thing a lot of my success this year is has to do mostly with time spent on the water/shore. Anyone who spends that much time fishing is bound to catch fish. For example I stumbled in at approx 2:30 am last night and woke up for work at 5:30 shocked.gif

Did I come home and sleep after work today? Heck no, I went out and topped my personal best channel grin.gif

also here's a vid of that previous cat:

and about the guiding thing..........I'd really hate to ruin the fun factor by making fishing my job crazy.gif
