Beretta shot gun info wanted

ok guys I need a little help here, I'm considering buying a Beretta AL 391 Teknys on monday its used but less then a box of shells thru it,but just out of curiousity I went looking around and seen some others but a couple had pitting or some type of blemishs on the reciever which makes it very ugly. does anybody know if this was a problem that Berreta had or just lack of care??

P.S. Tom from Blaine is back. (the divorce thing had me on the ropes for a couple of rounds thats why I missed some of the get togethers this year)

I have not owned a Teknys but I have two other Beretta shotguns and I would have to say that the pitting would be from a lack of care.

IMO Berettas are some of the finest fire arms there are.

Thanks caseymcq, I was really hoping to hear that, from someone other than an employee where I want to buy the gun at, I've owned a few differnt makes and models in the past(all pumps) and have always liked the berreta's. didnt plan on spending that much but got tired of trying to figure out which camo gun was mine lying in the back of the truck

Welcome back Tom. I wouldn't shy away from a Beretta.

Any gun will rust if not stored properly. Vinyl gun cases whether they be a hard or soft case won't let air flow so storing a gun in them isn't recommended. Bringing in a gun out of the cold and into a warm house will cause condensation. I leave the gun in the case till it warms up then uncase it and oil it. Leave the case wide open to dry any moister that might be in there. Oiling before and after use along with periods in between storage time and definitely if the barrel has been touched.

Thanks S.T., also for the info on the vinyl gun cases,I was fairly sure that was what I was seeing but not completely, now as far as cases go I was thinking going "retro" like the old material like on a carhart jacket but nicely padded on the inside possibly with some of that new micro fibre stuff inside, anybody seen anything like that or have recommendations, any and all would be helpful.

I have that very gun in a trap model with a 6 oz shock absorber in the stock. Sweet shooting and I have had no problem with it at all. As mentioned before, any gun will rust if not taken care of. Finger prints and sweat is often times one of the worst things on a gun.

the type of gun case your are looking for sounds like a boyt case. The outside material is like a carhartt and is padded and has a heavy duty brass zipper and a leather strap and leather end. I have a benelli for sale in this forum and in the picture is a boyt case.They are a little pricy at around 80.00.

Well I finally had time to take it apart and get somewhat familiar with the pieces, oil it up and see my self hunting with it now I just need to get out and shoot a couple boxes of shell thru it,( I did'nt know about breaking in a auto gun )at least thats what I've been told. I ended up with an Allen case that has a material that I was looking for in camo and its heavley padded also has a shoulder strap. I guess that marcum will have to wait till next year thanks for all the input guys...
