Shallow or deep in the Fall

Both and both. I've been on some incredible big fish bites in September out of deep water crawling a roller jig along the bottom. Rocks are definitely a key element. However, I never hesitate to start a day throwing buzzers in and around slop. And, you can't forget the scum frog bite out of the pads.

Sometimes, you can't get shallow enough in the fall, and sometimes those deep fish really make your jaw drop. With that being said, my fishing usually ends in September due to conflicts with hunting.

CB- I hope Ray will see this post.. I am sure he will..

I myself also like to fish roll'er type football jigs... I pretty much use a couple of different style plastics... #1 just a craw immatation. #2 a Skirted double tail grub, #3 a Straight tail worm...

Good luck and good fishing to you.

What exactly is the right cover? I am thinking rocks maybe? I do have some roller jigs, I myself just call them football jigs but rarely use them. Deitz, what is it that makes this style of jig head appealing? Is it that the bait stands up?
