New Curado 300

I just saw the new Shimano Curado 300 for the first time last night, I was impressed. Best way to describe it is as a regular Curado on steriods. Oversized handle, 6.2:1 ratio, and will hold 120 yards of 20lb diameter line. It's what I'll call a low profile muskie pike reel, but I'm going to ask Deitz for a little more info.

We have a lot of questions about younger anglers, women fishing, small hands, arthritis, etc and this looks like a great alternative. Put this on a heavy bass flippin' stick and it would be a great set up. Reel is $250, not cheap but if it's a Curado, they are arguably the most popular lo-pro bass reel ever, it should be good.

Anyone else seen these and/or heard anything about them?

If I remeber correctly, Shimano is marketing them to the Muskie/Pike crowd that is looking for a low profile option.

I believe they are supposed to have the guts of a TE so they should be plenty tough.

The high gear ratio is the only thing that I dont care for. You are pretty limited on what you can throw with the reel.

Thats what I was thinking. If they were aiming at the musky guys youd think they would make it a gear ratio around 5.

Sounds like a very interesting reel, especially for those times when you want to bulge a bucktail or spinnerbait.

Picked one up over the weekend,will be my Bucktail reel from now on, very smooth,light on the hands, and you can go all day with it, Very Impressed !!!
