cutting reeds

Can I cut reeds down and use them to hide my boat or is it against the law to cut them down.

I think it depends on where you hunt.

I have read before that you can cut aguatic vegetation as long as it is above the water line...no ripping them out by the roots. Not sure if there's certain areas such as WPA's, WMA's etc. that it's illegal.

If you just bend them over it it makes the cover twice as thick. I also leave a few straglers so it doesn,t look like someone took a hedge trimmer to the reeds.

With legal questions of this nature, I have often found that if I email the DNR using the "contact us" link at their HSOforum, they are very responsive. Most times I'll get a response within a day or two. You might want to try this.
