Color cameras for underwater use in fresh water was attempted, but found to be a waste of technology- with walleyes being mostly white and grey, and our plantlife is sort of lifeless.

Color cameras of this technology are LOWER resolution, notably. The black and white technology is over 100 lines of resolution higher- example, an Aqua Vu Z series type cam, the older rubber armoured ones, were 420 lines of resolution, black and white. The best color cameras for this application are about 330 lines of res. The color underwater cams are a hit in saltwater, the water clarity is better, and the fish and terrain better appreciated in color. For Minnesota, black and white is where it's at- good question though, most people would not know the difference.
