Down Deep
I'll be fishing the English River a couple of week from now and was thinking of stopping by Dogtooth on the way home. There is not much info on the web. Are there resorts with campgrounds? Is there a public launch or resorts with public launches. Are maps available in the bait shops in Kenora? What restritions or lake specific rules are there? Any other info??? ThanksDD
Wild Thing
There is one resort on the lake and a great provincial park, called Rushing River provincial park. It has a boat landing... It's been a few years since I've been up there but this is hands down the best trophy walleye lake in the region. My buddy caught a 14 pound, 12 ounce fish there on one of our trips -- in July, no spawn. People go there and expect to catch at least a 10 puonder, but it is NOT an easy lake to fish. The lake is NOT known for numbers and can be dead slow at times. Days and days with hardly any bites, then you'll catch 10 fish over 25 inches in one day... I'd give it a week if you can. There are also trout in the lake and connected lakes... lots of rocks so be careful... I belive it's Dogtooth Lake Resort...good luck!! Bring a big net. Cheez
I just joined the site to try to gather info on Dogtooth Lake. I can not find any maps of the lake. I am going up on 9-7 and staying on the south end at Camp Luther. First time in the lake. Looking for info/map/GPS coordinates for areas to avoid. Do not want to tear up a lower unit. Productive areas to fish would be an added bonus. My e-mail is [email protected] Thank you in advance for your help
Northlander
The only maps I have or have seen are the ones I got from Dogtooth resort. Call Wayne maybe he would send you one. Then again maybe not if you arent staying with him.
CapnDee
In response to many E-mails of inquiry I offer this info. I have been fishing the lake since 1949 (still do, last half of both May and Sept EVERY year.) As far as I know have fished the lake longer than anyone else alive and probably know more about the lake and adjoining Kilvert than anyone. To save you from having to contact me have placed on my PERSONAL HSOforum of many years a DOGTOOTH LAKE page with pictures of TROPHY size Walleye (14-3/4#), Northern, Bass, Trout, & Splake I have taken there along with comments. While I WILL continue answering each and every Q. that I get, for a quick look check my HSOforum: www.capndee.com
