IFallsRon
Too numerous to describe, the weeds that have hung on look like a who's who of perennials worthy of a Euforian's yard. I'm hoping the lawn comes back and I'd rather not get carried away with the Roundup; so is there anything left on the store shelves that has enough bark to take care of the invaders? LwnmwnMan2
You sound like a fellow GL'er. Anyways, are you talking about broadleaf weeds, or about crab / quack grass? The latter has just absolutely EXPLODED everywhere that I'm working. If you're talking about the crabgrass / quackgrass, wait another month -> 45 days and when we get the first hard freeze, it'll be dead, then you can get a decent layer of pre-emergent next spring and you should be okay. If you're talking about broadleaf weeds, the best time to spray those as well is when we have our first decent frost. If you want to get rid of them right now, you can. I'm not sure if you have a "Lesco" in St. Cloud or not, but I'd check there, or possibly order a gallon of Momentum FX or FX2 off the Lesco HSOforum. I know it's going to look quite expensive, but it's what's going to work. You'll have to read the label, mixing to whatever ratio that pertains to what you're going to use to spray the property. You don't want to go overboard though, because you will burn the yard. Again, if it's a grassy weed, I'd wait. If you can't stand the sight of them. Get some Drive 75, again from Lesco. That's made for the control of emerged crabgrass. Disclaimer: I realize there's probably other products that work just as well, it's just that these are the ones that I use all the time in my business and know that they work for my applications. harvey lee
I sprayed for broadleafs last week and it took a toll on them, all gone. The quack and crabgrass will be dealt with later this year and next spring.I use mec-amine 2-4-d and it did a great job.I add 3oz to 1.5 gallons of water in a hand sprayer and spot spray.A gallon will last many years unless you mow acres. Yes, the broadleaf herbicide will kill those too, you need to be careful. Make sure you don't get any on the leaves of the plants that you want to keep. The broadleaf herbicide will not harm your grass, as long as you follow the label rating for how you're spraying.
