ozzie
Want to venture to Devils Lake to do a little ice fishing this upcoming season...... Just wondering if there is any kind of nite bite on the lake or is it similar to LOW and only day bite?? Also is there usually a good road system to drive on the lake like Mille Lacs or Red or LOW.... Any info is appreciated.....Thanks in advance!!! Always gotta think ice fishing!!! iffwalleyes
Generally more of a early morning, evening bite for walleyes although they can be caught durning the day. But most people will then switch and pike fish during the day and the pike have been crazy the past few year. As far as lake travel the past few winters there has been so little snow that this hasn't been a problem. But if there is alot of snow generally there is a road that will get you where you want to head.
ozzie
Thanks.....Are there alot of houses that will set up shop all night or after it goes dark does the lake become dead?? Sort of wondering if it is worth pulling the pull behind and staying on the ice or just taking the portables and staying on shore.........Thanks
Jeff Dosch
Devils Lake isnt known for its night bite. We usually have about an hour after the sun goes down and the bite is over. I would stay with the portable because you will want to stay mobile when you fish Devls lake. We do have a good road system but it is limited to certain areas of the lake. We do keep access points across the entire lake open. This year looks to be one of the best seasons we have ever seen. Walleye and Pike populations are at an all time high and now we are finding more and more crappies when we are fishing perch. Looks to be an excellent year if you are looking for a great multi species trip.
