Any fish that is so plentiful that you can catch 15 or 20 in an hr.

Catching 15-20 bass in EIGHT hours would be an AMAZING DAY! No way can you catch 15-20 bass per hour. I'd say my overall average (for 7 hours) would be 12 bass... with some days getting 6 and some days getting 20+ but no way could someone nab 105-140 bass in 7 hours.

I would guess that no one could even catch sunfish at that rate!

OCF are you serious? The best day I've ever had was MAYBE around 30-32 bass on a good long day pehaps 8+ hours.

Just reading comments posted makes it difficult to judge the sincerity/tone of the poster, but I'm much more inclined to accept my opinion being given to me when it is done in a more light-hearted manner than with a preachy/self-righteous attitude.

Now, here's something a friend recently told me after I felt guilty about keeping a half limit of bass on our trip in June:

Ray Scott, founder of B.A.S.S. and an early pioneer in promoting C&R has been interviewed recently, and I'm paraphrasing now, and he said "...nobody will go to HE** for fileting a bass" and also "...in some lakes it is good for the population to keep some bass".

Personally, I have released many, many more than I have eaten so I sleep pretty good at night and even better with a tummy full of fish - no matter what kind it is.

Slyster, 15 to 20 bass per hour is pretty common in the Alex area. Now a major percentage of those fish will be in the 10" to 14" class. With a jig-worm on Ida you can easily do 15 bass per hour per person. Now for fish over that 3 pound range... that's another story grin.gif

My fishing friend is a bass fisherman. We fish togeather, him fishing for Bass while I fish for sunfish. He won't keep a bass but dosen't get TOO upset if I keep a couple of small ones that can't leave my sunfish bait alone grin.gif

Earlier this year we were out with orders to be home for supper at a spesific time. I figured it was about time to head in and set my rod down and moved to the helm. Joe wasn't ready to quit and said "give me 10 more minutes". OK, I said and looked at my watch, "I'll time you". In that ten minutes he cought 8 bass and lost 3 others. On a nearby lake, I watched him catch 63 bass in about 3 hours. We went home and ate bluegills. Sure, there are days you get darn few but 15-20 an hr. is not at all uncommon on a lot of lakes around here. I know that if everyone keeps a limit of big bass, that kind of fishing won't last long. On the other hand, eating fish is part of the sport for many of us, there is a middle ground.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
