Any musky action?

Recommended Posts

Well is this hot, dry weather hurting or helping the musky fishing in your neck of the woods? I don't think it makes a difference for me, I just can't seem to catch one of those buggers this year crazy.gif

Coot

We went to check a few lakes the other day to see if the water temps had dropped, where we found the water to be in the higher 70's... A lot better then mid 80's from the weekend...

Fished two lakes, where we seen 7 fish, 4 fish we hooked up on but could only get one to the bag.... Pretty neat deal we had though... I hooked a fish at boatside on the 8 (the fish we did land, a 35 incher) and my partner hooked a fish at the same time the fish I caught decided to eat... A double for a short while before that fish also decided to throw the hooks... So a decent day, but I should have had two other fish in the boat.. Dang hair nippers...

Thank god the temps have calmed down a bit!!!

Hit a small lake with Wydlewal this afternoon in search of some muskys. The water temps were high, it was windy and the water was a muddy dark color. So after trying the shallow cabbage with out any luck we decided to try some deeper water and cranks.

Were enjoying ourselves when we notice a joy rider in his boat keeps getting closer and closer till he is doing laps around us wide open within casting distance. We kept casting and giving him dirty looks till he swings wide and comes straight at my boat and this time he misses my boat by about 4ft I'm guessing around 30- 35mph.

He makes some hand gestures screams something and then puts his boat at his dock and goes up to his cabin. What the heck is wrong with people now days? Alot of bad ideas came across my mind on getting back at him but I decided to just keep fishing instead. Sad thing is he had musky poles and baits in his boat so he was aa fisherman too. What would you have done?

We did end up getting a mid 30" ski before we left.

Outdoor Ran,

Holy Smokes! I think I was on the same lake, same day, fishing muskies, and the same guy did the same thing to us. At first I just thought he was being ignorant as too how he was affecting our fishing, but then he even got closer. I was fishing the sunken island and he kept running laps over the whole structure! I thought he would hit bottom on one of his runs. He was in a 18-20ft black alumacraft type boat? with the full windshield, a rod sticking straight up in rod holder, and he was wearing a baseball hat on backwards.

Let me know if this is the same guy, I'd like to report him to the warden as it has got to be illegal to harass people when they are fishing!

Sounds like him. I was on Amnicon lake. Was that you over on the sunken island. I nocticed he was doing laps around that boat to. Did you see him take a kamkize run at my boat. He pulled out at the last second. I know he wasnt more then 4ft away. I'm thinking about going back and getting his numbers off his boat.

I think it was a black smokercraft with a full windshield and he had a rod sticking straight up with some lure hanging in the air. Its a good thing he didnt make another run at the boat because I was going to toss my anchor (thats how close he came) into his windsheild, at that speed it would of been ugly.

Yes that was me fishing the sunken island, and yes that was the lake, day, and guy that was acting like a complete jerkbait! I would like to file a report with the warden and or sheriff. Let me know if you would like to add anything to the complaint?

As for the fishing, we only saw two small skies and caught one bass. I think the lightning the night before sent them out deep. I graphed some bigger fish off the weeds out in open water, maybe I should have been trolling out there.

I did manage a small skie last night on the river, but it has been real slow there too.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
