Garmin GPS ???

I have a Garmin 172c GPS and currently have the central US hot spots software loaded with my fav lakes on a blank chip

My main question is can one purchase navionics or lakemaster chips for the garmin GPS units ,,,I was under the understanding that Garmin had its own exclusive software ...does any one else have a Garmin and software working other then the one i have ,,,Im not that impressed with the age of the data Garmin uses

I purchased the Minnesota Lakemaster software from Garmin and love it! There are contour maps of over 600 lakes including highly detailed maps of 58 of the most popular lakes in Minnesota. I have found it to be incredibly accurate.
