Steve,

I've got a 14 footer that I need to redo most of over this winter. All the seat "decks" need to be replaced. I've read your posts about replacing floors and seating with plywood and the "ins and outs" of treating the plywood with resins. Have you ever seen a synthetic material that could be used to replace seat "decks" ?

many decks these days are now being made with plastic composit deck boards, Trex, Rihno, Nexwood are a few name brands, they all make a 1/2" x 12" skirt board to wrap the frame of the deck.
this product may work for standard bench seats..?

eOn makes a plastic trim board for decks.
Should work great for a boats bench seats.

Good ideas. This 14 footer is my "utility" boat and stays outside tied to the dock from April to November. It takes a beating from the elements and I wanted to try and eliminate the wood.

i handle this stuff all the time it is heavy .......and not to mention ultra slippery when wet.

we just re-did the boom truck bed at my work with some kind of composite bed board. i think it came in 4 x 8 sheets. i would suggest looking for something in that area.
