Shipmate Marine & Trailer Grease?

I purchased this in the tube at mills this season and have started using it on the wheel bearings on my boat trailer. I am planning some long trips next season and would like to get some input from others that have been using it, and how it stacks up against other grease?

It is soap based and cleans off your hands quite easy compared to standard grease. Another thing is that it expands in heat, the caps were popping on the tubes this Summer when it was hot, they settled back down as soon as it cooled off.

I've use this product for a few years on everything including masonry equipment and have not had any problems but ignorance may be bliss HTB

Ive used it also and havent had any problems never heard of soap based but I guess I never fully read the label.

Not trying to be a smart a** but soap based and marine don't seem very compatible. ?

I agree that it does not seem compatable. It does not state anything on the tube about soap base, it does state that it (is a revolutionary new grease incorporating the latest breakthrough in high-temperature, water resistant lubricant technology.)It also states that it is environmentally safe, and contains no heavy metals or other harmful or environmentally undesirable additives. It goes on to state that it will not wash out of bearings even under total emersion.

I went on the internet last year to check out this grease and found information on it. It stated that it was a revolutionary new soap based grease that was environmentally safe, but still posessed superior heat stability and did not break down in water.

I tried to find info on it this morning in search mode after reading the info on the tube and can find nothing. The company listed in ST Paul has a web site with no information on it. If anyone can find that information on it, I would appreciate it if you would list it here.

I've used Shipmate products for years without any problems. I put many miles on my boat trailer with a 19' boat and also used the two cycle oil and lower unit oil.
