What's the word, folks? There's not much recent chatter here from the usual suspects.

We're heading up Thursday for six more days and am hoping it's as good as last time...

appreciate any news...

WT,

We struggled to find walleyes for a lot of this past weekend's trip. Fished reefs first- struggled. Fished sand, points, current areas- nada. Finally found fish deep, but not until the last day of the trip. Smallie fishing was good. I didn't muskie fish much due to the number of kids we had along on the trip.

Good luck when you get back up there!

Hmmm. As good as the reefs were 10 days ago I can't imagine they left already. Maybe the weather has them deep. They gotta come up to eat sometime!

Thanks, and keep those reports coming. Will post next week when we get back.

Don't know WT. I can tell you we jigged, pulled cranks, lindy rigs, and spinner and bottom bounced some of our best producing reefs from the past and didn't do squat. We did have a good storm roll through the morning of our first day. It had plenty of lightening in it, which may have moved fish off of rock for a while (plenty of old timers at LOW swear that lightening moves fish off of reefs for a few days). Who knows, but I do know we struggled for a while.

Good luck to ya when you go. I might get back up there for a three day weekend soon.

We fished Saturday through Tuesday. We found some decent 'eyes in 8-14'. The wind was howling so I didn't get to try my best two reefs so we fished around somewhat protected islands and did fine catching mostly 12-15" with a few 17s and one 23. We mostly trolled spinners. Also caught a few bonus smallies.

Finally, some big fish! But way to much wind!!

We were up there from Thursday through Tuesday afternoon, but only fished about 8 hours total the whole time. We had some non-fishing folks visiting (kayakers) but the main problem was the wind. We haven't had a string of four or five windy days like that in a couple years. On Monday, we didn't even go out. It was steady at 20 mph and gusting over 25...

I got one 27'' on Friday and two 25's, with a couple 24's and several over 18 on Sunday. All the big ones came right on top of the reef, in 12-14 feet of water. Crawlers on spinners is all we use, so can't compare it to anything else. The numbers of eaters came on the break at about 14 feet. Only fished one reef so not sure how the others were. The fishing was very good when we could get out. Two of us landed 22 walleyes on Saturday in less than 3 hours, one a nonfisherman, so it's getting up to summer reef standards...

I don't think the Tuesday cold front (25 degree drop in temperature) and the lightning helped much either. There was a massive lightning storm Friday night and more on saturday.

I'm also amazed how low the water is.

Home for 9 days then back up for 9 straight days of fishing!!!! Hope the wind and storms are over by then. Give me a string sunny, hot muggy weather and the fish will go nuts....

WT, thanks for the report. Sounds like the fish moved back onto the reefs pretty quickly, huh? Glad to hear you found some fish in your brief fishing outing.

Hey, Scoot, the musky guys were pounding the cradles between the rocky islands. lots of guys casting bucktails from big Rangers. Never saw one landed, but they were trying in pretty shallow water...

fyi...
