LMS 332 FRIED!

Lip RIPPER!

Question

Has anyone had a problem with their 332's not powering up? I was fishing a tourney on Winnie on Sat and started up my big motor to move and looked over and my screen was blank. Couldn't get any power to it at all. I hooked up an x100 and also an x71 to it and both of those powered up. We took it over to Ron Hunter by Judd's Resort and he looked at it and said this was the 2nd unit out of about 200 that he is looked at that wouldn't power up. I shipped it to Tulsa at the factory yesterday morning.

Anyone else have this problem with theirs? Thanks!

I'm hoping it isn't fried because I just got one a couple weeks ago and I do have the same/similar problem. I have it hooked up to my starting battery and when I start my big motor, the power to the graph goes off. Sometimes I could get it started up again and sometimes not. Is the unit getting a power surge when I start my big motor? What could be a cure? Is there such a thing as a surge protector or should I get my graph it's own battery? I'm sorta hijacking this initial post, but I'm guessing any answers given would help both of us. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have had problems with the fuse holder not making contact. Every now and then I have to jiggle, touch, or readjust it to get power to the unit. It's a small pain. Other than that no problems at all. Sorry to hear you have an issue.

Had an x107 fry on Saturday while starting up the big motor as well. Plugged in another graph and everything powered up fine - it was the graph itself that had problems. Seems like a fairly common problem...hopefully Lowrance can fix the design or at least service their products well!

Mine fried this spring when I started my outboard after fishing for a little while at a spot. The inline fuse had not burnt out, but the unit was toast. I called the Tulsa hotline praying because it was 13 months old (12 month warranty). They said to send it in, I got a new one back without any charges. I guess it was worth losing all my waypoints.

Walleyewarrior,

I too had the fuse problem mentioned above and used some duct tape to better secure the fuse holder. Also I was having a problem where my 332 on the console would turn off itself whenever I started the motor, I could power it back up but every time I started the motor it would shut down. I had it put in at Capras so I called and Jerry told me that is a sign of low amps on the starting battery. I had my batteries tested and sure enough the battery was bad. I Replaced it and the problem went away. I love the units!! Good luck with yours, let us know how it works out. Good Fishing!!

I had mine fry last summer in during a LETS tournament. I sent it to Lowrance and had a spanking new unit within 2 weeks. SAVE YOUR WAYPOINTS!!! I lost an entire year of spots, but now I have MapCreate to back them up and manage them.
