Tyler Holm
I'm planning on tubbing down a river that just happens to be chuck full of fish. I'd like to bring a rod along, but won't have the room for a full size rod. I also am not interested in a rod that breaks down into X pieces as I really don't care to deal with 4-6 pieces. I'm thinking Telescopic....Do you have any good suggestions or recommendations?
Northlander
Gander, Berkley, Bass Pro and Cabelas all have nice telescoping rods. What type fishing and fish will ya use it for? That will help to recomend a certain rod or rods.
Tyler Holm
I'd be interested in a Light - med light aciton rod. Smallies will consists of most of the fish, but like any river there are several species that are often caught.I'd probably be throwing floating stickbaits (#13 rapala) but also may do a little jiggin, or flippin plastics (7" worms, etc)
IndyEFI500
Many years ago I bought a telescoping at the Gander in St. Cloud when it first opened. I am not sure what brand it is. It is a medium action but has the sensitivity of a telephone pole. It wasn't very expensive though either. I wouldn't recommend going the cheap route like I did. Wiskers
Well it can be very simple.. Use an ice fishing rod. I do it all the time, makes for a good fight and fun at the same time. very compact. If you can catch big fish through the ice why no in the open water. Casting is a diffrent issue, you might want to practice a bit but it is fun when you get it. If not, I am very happy with the Berkley Lightning rods.. very good rods that teliscope. Have fun and see ya on the water. Let me know how it goes.. I use my ice rods for catching bait fish and sunny fishing and smallies just for a change of pace now and again. makes for a funny day of fishing and the looks you will get are priceless...
