Telescopic Fishing Rod Help

Tyler Holm

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on tubbing down a river that just happens to be chuck full of fish. I'd like to bring a rod along, but won't have the room for a full size rod. I also am not interested in a rod that breaks down into X pieces as I really don't care to deal with 4-6 pieces. I'm thinking Telescopic....

Do you have any good suggestions or recommendations?

I'd be interested in a Light - med light aciton rod.

Smallies will consists of most of the fish, but like any river there are several species that are often caught.

I'd probably be throwing floating stickbaits (#13 rapala) but also may do a little jiggin, or flippin plastics (7" worms, etc)

Many years ago I bought a telescoping at the Gander in St. Cloud when it first opened. I am not sure what brand it is. It is a medium action but has the sensitivity of a telephone pole. It wasn't very expensive though either. I wouldn't recommend going the cheap route like I did.

Well it can be very simple.. Use an ice fishing rod. I do it all the time, makes for a good fight and fun at the same time. very compact. If you can catch big fish through the ice why no in the open water. Casting is a diffrent issue, you might want to practice a bit but it is fun when you get it. If not, I am very happy with the Berkley Lightning rods.. very good rods that teliscope.

Have fun and see ya on the water.

Let me know how it goes.. I use my ice rods for catching bait fish and sunny fishing and smallies just for a change of pace now and again. makes for a funny day of fishing and the looks you will get are priceless...
