How long do trolling motor batteries last? I bought this boat new in 2001 and it has two 12 volt deep cell batts. When do you know its time to get new batteries?

Lawman, When you spend more time rechargin' than ya do trollin'. I myself am running Trojan 225's, 2 of 'em. If I'm not mistaken, this was year 8 on the batteries and I didn't see any need to replace them yet. I get an EASY 3 days before I need to pull the boat into the yard and recharge. I just replaced 6-6v Trojans in my cabin golf cart earlier this summer, they were installed in '91. They just didn't go like they use to. I figured I got my moneys' worth. Go with the Trojans.

where do you get Trojan batteries??

I know Gander has them. Do a search and see who does in your area.

Batteries Plus has Trojans (batteries)

Batteries Plus is a dealer, but most often don't have the marine deepcycles in stock (outstate). I would go with Gander(if more convenient) as they don't normally deal with golf cart batteries. Although, if you're not in a hurry, Batts + can definitly order any battery you would want and have it in 3 or 4 days. For my Troller Batteries, I run "SCS225"s. Size wise, they're equal to a group 27.
