Well me and Cheffrey spent the day with his wife and daughter in sand bay for some swimming, boating, and even a little fishing. Fished off of off the Sand Island shoals in 40-80 ft of water. In under 2 hours of fishing we got 4 lakers with one around 9 lbs. Fish were 40-50 ft down and all were taken on spoons off of riggers. Great day to be out and what a gorgeous area it is over around the islands. I wish I could make it out there more often.

Perfect report.

We have reservations for the weekend at the Sand Point campground. We'll drag the boat, and I was wondering how the laker fishing has been up by Sand.

Thanks.

Well, the wind was up for the 3 days we were at Sand Point Campground, therefore, we managed about 4 hours on the water.

On the first day, my 19 month old threw up his bluebaerry pancakes 45 minutes into fishing time- couldn't handle 3-4 footers, I guess. That cut short our morning. We caught 5 fish in the that time too - mostly off spin-n-glows 45-61 in 80 ft of water. So, off to clean fish and to spend time on the beach.

Next AM, had to wait out a thunderstorm, then got about 3 hours in before the wind chased us off. We caught 5 lakers, then as I was pulling up one of my lines 4 others popped. I thought we had a major league tangle of lines, but it ended up being a quadruple! One of them weighed in at 14 lbs, so after a few minutes of reviving, she's back in the pond somewhere.

So, for the weekend, 14 fish in just under 4 hours. A lot came off spin-n-glows. A few came off a blue/green spoon we call a "dolphin". The big fish hit a mother of pearl Milje spoon.

All were caught in the space between an area just North of the Sand Island shoals and the York Island Shoals.
