just wonder if anyone has used the therma cell mosquito repllent thing for hunting, and if so do they work.

I watched Carolina outdoors the other night and they were using them in Canada. They were bear hunting in the late part of May. During the footage you could see bugs all over then he fired the therma cell up and no bugs to be seen. For the price of $19.99 I will be giving them a try. Who know maybe buy enough to go around my whole yard. I'm courious too if they work like they say they do.

I'm going camping this weekend and I packed my Thermacell. I'll give you a report next week if the mosquitoes are bad and I have to fire it up. On one of the bowhunting web sites I frequent, the southern boys rave about Thermacell, so I bought one last fall, have never used it, but thought I'd try it for camping and early season bowhunting. I'll report back.

In my mind, the jury is still out on this. Fired up the Thermacell Sat morning at our campsite when I saw a few mosquitoes around and guests that hate the outdoors were supposed to arrive. We didn't get bothered by mosquitoes but midday usually isn't a bad mosquito time. Put in a new pad and fired it up Sat night about 7 PM, it seemed to work for awhile but then about 9:30 - prime mosquito time, I had enough mosquitoes buzzing around my head and biting that I had to put my sweatshirt hood up and keep wiping my face and forehead. Then as per usual, by an hour after sunset the mosquitoes were gone.

Does it work? It didn't do the trick when I needed it the most on Sat night. I plan on buying some more refills and when we go for a week of camping in July, maybe we'll get one of those hot, sultry days where the mosquitoes will bother you all day in camp. Then I'll fire it up and test it some more. Stay tuned.

I'm waiting to try mine, we haven't had that many skeeters lately with the dry heat...

I never got it out while we were camping, no mosquitoes, too dry.
