jbell1981
I seen that a few weeks ago. I think it's a sweet looking car. I wouldn't mind if he ran that car all year. On a side note, Other than it being a retro looking, how does this car honor his Dad or have anything to do with father's day. Can't they just say they are running a different car that has the old bud logo's or something to that effect. It seems that everytime Jr. runs a different looking car, it has to honor his Dad or something.
Cyberfish
Actually I think it was his grandaddy Ralph that ran the red and white 8 car. cant remember Dale ever driving #8...

LMITOUT
A little history for ya: The predominantly cream-colored paint scheme is based upon the #8 cars driven by Ralph and Dale during their NASCAR careers, while the Budweiser bow-tie logos are vintage 1974 marks commemorating Dale’s NASCAR debut and the year Dale Jr. was born. While Dale Earnhardt, a seven-time NASCAR champion, is most famous for driving the black No. 3 car with Richard Childress Racing, he raced much of his early career with the No. 8 on his cars, the number also used by his father Ralph. I should have said in the original post it included Ralph as well. One place I read said Dale Sr and another said Dale Sr. and Ralph. jbell1981- Just FYI, it's Father's Day this Sunday. See how it all comes together?
jbell1981
I knew that both Sr. & Ralph used to run a number eight. Were the ever in a cream collored bud car? If so, that I didn't know. If not then the only reason It honors his father or grandfather is becuase it is a number eight, which one could argue that he honors them everytime he gets in the car then. LMITOUT
I'll simplify it further. Junior's sponsor is Budweiser. There's a reason he's driving the #8 today and that would be exactly the purpose of this paint scheme on Father's Day. Dale Sr. ran the #8 car early in his career. (the year Jr. was born and hence the retro Bud logo from that era) Ralph ran the #8 and his car was cream colored. No, there wasn't a cream colored Bud car with the #8 but this is a mix of all the Earnhardt history. Watch the commerical on Sunday and maybe it'll make more sense. They wanted to bring some history back and combine that with Father's Day weekend. Is that a crime? geesh.
