the bite has been good for the most part, I havent been up there for 2weeks but the bite was good and from what I hear it continues to be? Maybe somebody that has fished it recently can chime in.

I do know that I have been finding my fish shallower than I normally would target. Spinners seemed to be the ticket I dont know if color was a preference because I got fish on all sorts of things, spinners, floating jigs, etc. A lot could have changed in the last couple weeks though. Sorry I cant provide a more recent report.

Good luck to you, let us know how you do!

Sorry to reply one month later, but the fishing was fantastic. We only took four fish to the weigh in, but they were released, unharmed. For once, my ProV livewells did well. In about an hours time, we probably caught 20 fish each that were just under the slot...and I mean just under. Best walleye fishing of the year. I knew there was a reason I kept coming back to Thompson. Next year is going to be fantastic. All fish at that time were caught in 1-4 FOW. Jigs, spinners, whatever. From what I hear, even a month later, it is still the same. I will be there again soon. In our mini tournament, approximately 12 pounds took the lead. Didnt hurt when they had a 6 pound kicker. All fish in that lake are extremely fat. Fall should be awesome. If youre looking for me, that is where I will be!!! Again, sorry about the late post, but better late than never. This thread needs some updates by the way. Let us know how you are all doing!

As of lately the lake has been rather slow. The water temps should start to drop pretty soon.

There is always a steady mid basin bite out there, but some days you will really have to work for every bite.

As for water clarity I have no idea.

Three of us were out yesterday and got 12 in about five hours, one 14.5 and the rest were from 15-17. We were pulling spinners and crawlers in 5-8ft of water. Color went from blue to chartruse throughout the day, also a couple came on plain snells.

I was at Thompson on 9-02-06 and the water had a green tint to it. You could see down a couple of feet, but it was very cloudy out on Saturday.

Fishing was slow. Managed 4 walleyes 14 to 17 inches long. Alos a 12 inch crappie. Couldn't fish by the Silo on the east because of the wind.(That's where all the reports were coming from)We drifted on the north side with spinners and crawlers/minnows. Tried floating jig heads, but never had a bite on them. All fish we caught were 14 to 16 feet deep. Tried shallow with no luck.

Fished Sunday 3 boats in our group. One fished deep, trolling shads and walleye-divers on lead-core, they ended with 7 nice eyes and a jumbo perch. Boat #2 trolled up the column with fire line and jointed shads. Had their 8 eyes in 4 hrs and a slab crappie. I was in boat #3 live baiting. We tried just about every presentation in the book, and were over fish all day, but ended up with only one eye picked up on a Lindy and a crawler on a bare hook drifting. frown.gif

We tried to troll some jointed raps, but motor problems plagued us and kept us in live bait mode all day.

I guess sometimes you just weren't meant to catch fish that day.

It was a great day to be out on the water with family and friends. I have to let the brother in law out fish me once in a while, otherwise he never wants to go fishing with me!

That same boat that went out with us on Sun, caught their limit again on Mon morning in 2hrs. cool.gif Way to go guys!
