Is it enough motor?

Wild Thing

Question

Can anyone out there tell me if a 115 Yamaha four stroke is enough motor for a 2002 Lund Tyee 1850 GS? I'm looking at this used combo but am a bit concerned it may be under powered. Any experience out there? Thanks in advance.

I have a 1750 Tyee GS with a 115 and it works fine will run about 42 GPS speed without a load.At that time the max you could put on it was a 130.You could probably get by with a 115 but you wont be happy down the road.I would go with no less than a 150 on that boat.

With a 4 stroke I would go 150 as well. 115 would be a sluggish slow ride. See if you can buy just the boat and find a good used motor. If your buying new check out the Suzuki 4 stroke they are great. I do really like my yamaha as well.

I would say that that would be the very bottom for that boat. Alot of them came standard with 115's but many upgrade to the 150.

I had same situation with a Crestliner 1850 sportfish and we upgraded to the 150, I have been very pleased with that choice.
