Is it to early to target eyes along the weedlines at night?

Recommended Posts

Last year there was a guy on here explaining how he would cast raps toward the edge of the weeds with good results at around 12:00 at night. Is it to soon to use this approach? The lake I'm going to this weekend is small and has a brown stain to it with the majority of it being shallow with the occasional 20' hole.

That bite will last all Summer and well into the fall. Of course some nights will be better (pay attention to lunar charts) such as full moons or nights with a little "chop" on the water. The main thing is to be a quiet as possible, as well as using the right presentation for the conditions. Rapalas are always a good choice but don't pass up jigs and livebait or plastics.

One more thing I've picked up...sparse pencil reeds are the best, followed by cabbage (or a combo of). But, that's not a definite rule either.

BTW, I re-read your post and noticed you said stained water. Sometimes you can apply those same techniques during the day also. Often those type of lakes don't produce after dark...case in point LOW.
