old gas

just picked up an older motor and 6 gallon gas tank and the tank has mixed gas in it that is about 1 1/2 years old..Does anybody know a place to take it to get rid of or could i mix it with some good gas and run it through my lawnmower..Dont want to hook motor up and try to use this gas... thanks for any help

Tri County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 601 N. 20th Ave. in St. Cloud will take small amounts. It's near Centennial Coborn's.

If it had stabil in the tank it might be ok, as long as it smells decent still (no that turpintine smell). Your mower probably wouldn't complain much, well if it is a 2-stroke mower. If no stabil or bad smell I would take it to that facility mentioned above.

ifalls...thanks for info called and drove over and emptied tank and now have fresh gas...

Pour the gas into another container. Go get fresh and start up the motor. If it runs well, add a little back at a time and burn it up, might be much easier than the hazardous waste route. Can't tell you how many motors I've run on old gas. The just seem to have a little less pop. And if it had Stabil, it'll be just fine.
