tin siding

beretta

Question

Hey guys, my parents just bought a new plot of land and there is an old shed on it. We have been thinking about taking off the wood siding and replacing it with some tin siding. First of all, does anyone have any reccomendations about what kind of tin we should use? Also what does it cost per sheet? I have been looking for it on the net and cant find any prices. Any suggestions for putting it on? Thanks for the help. Ive neer done this before.... crazy.gif

I assume by what you are decribing your referring to the type of material used on pole barns? Most of the major home improvement stores carry this or can order it. They also should be able to provide you with trim options, fasteners, intallation data, etc. This type of material is user friendly, maintenance free, and installs quickly. Typically installed utilizing color matched hex head screws with a neopreme washer or nails with a neopreme washer. Not sure if this is what you were thinking but thought I would take a shot at it.

Why would you overlap by four ribs? Has the design changed in the last four years? This is just curiosity, not trying to undermine your knowledge, just trying to strengthen mine. I assisted in putting up a pole building four years ago and the manufacturer/instructions specified to overlap one rib and to screw in the valleys, not on the peak. I understand that there may have been some changes in the last few years...or is it preference/experiences?

i believe that for roofing you do the peaks and for sideing you do the valleys. reason for peaks on roofs is water will shed off the peaks ,and run in the valleys. less chance for leaks when on the peaks.... paul
