Livewell leaking

davidr

Question

I have purchased a Alumacraft tournement sport and the livewell hose is leaking. We filled up the bottom of the boat with water and it was coming out the intake tube for the livewell. The livewell is up front so the intake line runs under the gas tank. Has anyone else had this problem and is it a big deal to change out that hose.

What could have happened is there was water left in the bottom of the livewell that froze and cracked the hose.

Anyway, if you can get access to where the hose connects to the bottom of the livewell disconnect the inlet line at the back of the boat, get some new livewell hose and tape the new hose to the end of the old hose and pull the old hose through whatever compartment you have at the front of the boat... reconnect everything and you're done.

You could also just have a loose hose clamp on the bottom as well...

Good Luck!

I had the same type problem and all I had to do was cut off about 4" and reconnect. That was the easy part cause getting to the leak was a pain.If you have to replace the whole hose you can tape on a good strong pull string, pull out the hose and use the string for your new hose.

If you have to replace hoses try to get some silicone coated type. It's more expensive but it's guaranteed not to get brittle as regular livewell hose.

I wish you were closer, I have tons of it I could just give you.

well turns out it was the fitting on the bottom of the livewell...and that happens to be a elbow so it was a real B getting out...and in the process the rope we tied came off. So the next move is trying to fish a snake line back through the hull. I talked to alumacraft and they said i will prolly have to pop some rivets and take the floor board up. Anyway, as of right now i got a real nice cooler in the front of the boat if anyone has some beer they want to chill.
