Slyster
I bought a quart of 2-stroke Amsoil synthetic.. I believe this is what I've heard is top notch.. no smoke etc.. is the for sure safe for any two stroke mixed gas engines? Do some of you use it? 0 McGurk
Simply put; Yes. And Yes. Mix 80:1 if you aren't sure about it. If you already bought it I'd assume you'll be using it, so get to it! You won't regret it. Good Luck, McGurk
0 Slyster
My motor requires the Johnson 50:1... do I stick to this same ratio with Amsoil?
0 stmichael
My evinrude mix is 50:1, I have been running 100:1 this season so far. My question is I have been running 87 octane, and I have been advised to do so. I hear people running the higher octane. I have not had any problems in the past 3 years, the previous owner told me he has ran the 87 octane. Do I bother changing now? the motor is a 1982 75 h.p. 0 musky hunter
Amsoil is a fine product and can be run at 100:1. If you don't believe me, pull a spark plug after running and you will usually see oil residue around the ring, but not on the electrode. The stuff doesn't "go away" at the same rate petroleum oil does. That's why you can run it thinner.
0 ccarlson
The only amsoil two stroke oil that you want to run at a higher ratio than what your motor recommends is the 100:1 amsoil. I use my amsoil injector oil to mix gas for small engines around the garage but that can not be used at the higher ratios like the 100:1 amsoil can. It is not the same grade amsoil.Just make sure the oil you are using to mix is the 100:1 and you can mix it at ratios up to that level safely. Otherwise, if it is the regular amsoil two stroke oil not rated at 100:1, mix it as your motor specifies.ccarlson
0 Fishin4Life
Can you mix the 100:1 stuff and use it in old motors like my 1960's 18hp evinrude safely? I currently mix 40:1 just to be on the safe side, and it tends to still be a bit smokey. And if you can, and I do switch, will I need to drain my gas tank and re-fill fresh with the new oil? Or can I just start using it with a bit of gas and previous oil in there.
0 stmichael
MAKE SURE THAT IT IS SABRE OUTBOARD. My brother runs it in a 1976 18 horse evinrude. He has gone through one tank. so far. I would bring another gas can on board premixed, so when you run out you can start fresh.

0 stmichael
It is the AMSOIL Saber outboard (100:1) 2 cycle mix for outboards. The saber professional (100:1) 2 cycle mix for weed eaters, chainsaws...etc. You do not want to mix the two up. As recommended by AMSOIL
