i believe that the blades are a use and throw away. use till they are dull and go buy new, i've been on the blade that came with the knife for about a year and a half and is still doing fine.

I use my ceramic sticks and go slowly. Go on the tapered side for most all the swipes. the back side only for the burr edge. I have use my blades for several years now. Mike
