oil ratio revisited

my wife just bought a boat, motor and trailer this last weekend. The motor is a Gamefisher, which I think was made for or by sears, it is a 71/2 hp. does any one know what the oil to gas ratio might be. I was going to run 50-1 in it to start.<P>thanks<P>O

It's quiet possible it was made for Sears by Eska, try the site http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent

they have several links with specs on a lot of the Eska motors that were sold by sears.

Also, you could probably call the sears parts store on haines Rd and get a copy of the original manual.

the model number on the motor is larger than those listed on the site, and sears does not have them anymore. any ideas?

You may wish to search the web for other outboard specific forums, but from what I read on them if the motor is mid/late sixties or newer your thinking is correct - 50-1.

been trying to get it running this year, without any luck. anyone know of a shop in the duluth area that might work on something this old.

A two-stroke is a two-stroke, regardless of age and things like water-cooled vs air-cooled, brand, etc. Only issue is getting parts. Any shop that works on them should be willing to work on yours, at least to do an assessment and see if it's worth taking on.

After all, they're billing you like $40 or more an hour, right?

My grandpa used to have a Sears 7.5, probably from the sixties (just a rough guess). He said it was made by McCullough--the chainsaw maker.
