TomBow
Yes, friends, tomorrow is the last chance for us hope-to-bag-a-bow-turkey folks to put a bird in the freezer. For myself, this has been a long turkey season. Started out in NE in early April, missed a jake with my recurve at 10 yards when the top limb hit the top of the blind and caused the shot to go high. Missed another jake at 50 yards with the compound a couple days later. That was it for NE, 0 for 2. In Minnesota, I hunted 2 days last week south of Belle Plaine, saw a Gobbler at 100 yards for about 10 seconds and the hens got him. The next day, You'd have thought the Gobblers had been abducted by aliens, not even one Gobble heard! Hunted on Monday morning near Pine City/Rock Creek and heard gobbles but didn't have enough time to go to the birds. So this brings me to tomorrow. I will be on the property early and will wait for a nearby gobble and will try and cut the distance and set-up. If that doesn't work, I will reposition. It's time to be aggressive. By the way, aggressive calling, fighting purrs seemed to perk the birds up on Monday. Here's hoping you (and I) get-er-done bow-turkey wise tomorrow. I'm awful tired of tag soup and grilling tags just don't work!! Best of luck to all my fellow turkey-addicts. Hope to see your picture with your last-day trophy! TomBow
Thanks for the "Good Luck"s. Unfortunately, there wasn't a single gobble heard all day so the best I could do, not knowing the normal travel routes for the birds in the area, was set-up and hope for the best. I saw all kinds of weather but no birds. Better luck next year, I hope!
