I get the Fleet Farm brand, Group 27 size, which is the largest size. I've always had them last for 3-4 years. The trick is to take care of them. Keep them full and Don't over charge them. Charge them as soon as you get off the water.

Your best bet is to get the biggest battery you can fit wherever your battery storage is. 24, 27 and 31 series are the different size batteries. The biggest ones I can fit in my compartment are the 27 series. I believe the 31 series would have run $10 more, but too big for my compartment.

Average life span? I think it all depends on how hard you use your batteries and how well you maintain them. But I would say 4 to 5 years.

I bought Everstart deep cycles from Wal-Mart originally for my boat. Very good batteries for the money. Even though they're Wal-Mart, I wouldn't call them low end batteries. Quality mid-range batteries. If you want to get the best batteries out there, I would go with Trojans. A little more money, but well worth it in my opinion. That's what I went with after my Everstarts were done. I've been very happy with them.
