It’s been too quiet on this board lately, hopefully that just means everyone has been out fishing.

I have yet to make it out this year with the exception of a few short trips to Alvin, Lakota, and Wall, basically to get the boat ready. But I took the day off on Friday and I FINALLY have a whole day to hit the water for full day of hardcore fishing.

All of my time has been going to my dog, and my goal was to have him tested for NAVHDA natural ability this last weekend, only to not have him full out swimming yet. So I, didn’t run him and think I will step back from the training a bit and focus on some fishing. We can test again in August so I will be shooting for that.

Anyways this will be my first season back in SD, and my first season ever having a boat of my own. So I have got a lot of learning and touching up to do this year, but that will make it fun.

I will post reports on how we do, probably going to Thompson or Madison. Anyone have a preference to which lake has a better morning bite?

I'm sorry I have been too busy this week to make my calls. My buddy has my boat on Lake Sinai as I type this.

You can generally get some going on Lake Thompson. Don't forget to pound some rocks for smallies if the action is slow. Although I don't consider myself a hardcore bass addict, they have saved the day more than once for me this year.

I ended up fishing Madison this morning early and part of this afternoon today. Not sure why I chose that over Thompson, but put in alot of time and effort today, only to get skunked.

Tried about everything I could think of and we had one bite but missed it. Marked a few fished but the graphs and depth finders were looking pretty blank. Fished all depths shallow and deep.

Morning started perfect with no wind at all, but once the wind came in it really started blowing on the lake.

I will probably be out again on Sunday hopefully, will be sure to report how I do.

good luck to everyone

Eagle,

Glad to here you found some cooporating crappies. How deep work you working the slip bobbers under the surface? What water depth? Did you find them in shaddy areas or sunny? Any structure like trees, weeds, etc?

Share any information you feel comfortable without giving away any secrets or hotspots. Thanks

I had the chance to take Tyler Holm out this past Saturday on another SD lake. We ended up trolling up a nice limit of eyes. It's always fun to get together with Tyler when he's back in SD. Nice to see you again Tyler!

No big fish, but it was fun anyways. Here's Tyler with an eye..

Would'nt you know it, as soon as I leave, the fish start biting. Go figure confused.gif.

I was back packing some of my things last weekend and made it out to chase up some 'eyes on Lake Poinsett. It took up until about 10:00 Saturday morning to crack the code, but once we did we were able to boat some dandy fish. As usual the smallies made there presence known, ranging from 16" all the way up to 17.5". Lots of fun grin.gif I still can't believe I moved confused.gif.

I forgot my digital camera at home so all my pics are on my disposable camera I keep in my tackle box.

The fish are biting on just about every body of water in Eastern SD right now, so get out and fish, you won't be disapointed.

I had a blast fishing with Rost and every fish we caught was a bonus. I learned a lot from Corey as plainer boards and line counters aren’t exactly my niche.

Corey also took a 10lb carp for a short boat ride, so I though I’d better do the same. What a fight they put up when they are accidentally foul hooked in the tail. A pair of nice perch rounded out the day.

Everything was released.

Head out and take advantage of this weather. The fishing is great in about every body of water in South Dakota.

I'll post a few more pictures in a day or so.

Tyler,

we were fishing in about 3 foot of water. It was realley sunny out and you could see your minnow swimming. we set the bobber stops about 6 inces of the bottum. We were also using 1/32 0z jigs with small minnows. We were just fishing on a rocky flat.

Biting on orange eh? tongue.gif

I will be back in town this weekend again and hope to get out and do some fishing but I will have the wife with me so I might be doing more packing than moving frown.gif. Hopefully I can still sneak some water time in.
