Fly Rods in tourneys

I was wondering if anyone has ever implemented the old fly rod during a tourney. I have seen in a few tournament's rules where the longest rod that could be used was 7'6. However i have found that there are times when a bass will bite on a big old caddis or grasshopper when nothing else is seeming to work. So would it be un ethical to use a fly rod/ have any of you ever done it?

thanks ike

A number of tournaments still carry the old B.A.S.S. rule of no rod over 8'. That's why original flipping sticks (telescoping) were all 8 footers, but made to telescope as none of the old rod lockers could handle an 8 foot rod. smirk.gif
