MNUser
Anybody running one and what size are you running? I have been looking into placing one on my '04 Explorer 1700. What can I expect beside the price tag?
0 shamalex72
I currently have a 13 7/8 x 17 stainless on my 115 E-tec. I found that to be the best prop for my boat(1750 Fishhawk). Our boat/motor combos should be similar to one another. I am getting 42 gps with two people and gear, 45 gps by myself. I gained almost 5 mph by going to the stainless. 0 18 inch Crappie
I have a question for all the prop heads out there. I also have a 115 Johnson 4 stroke on a 17' boat. Do you go with the same size that is on now or is there a rule for going from a stock prop to a SS? My motor revs out at 6 grand and the way it is set up now wide open trimed out at 5900 at 44 gps mph.
0 norma
I have a Johnson/Suzuki 115. I would try the same pitch that you are running now. One word of caution tho, many people will tell you what works best with their E-tec or yammy or merc. Discard that info, your gear reduction is 2.59:1, theirs is 2:00to 2.18:1 . I run mine on a 18 foot boat that loaded weighs about 3000lbs, and I use a 19" pitch prop. Most other motors would use a 17" or less pitch. Botom line Buy your prop from a local source ,make sure they have an exchange policy and try one.
0 wisconsinfish
I have a buddy runnig a 115 johnson with a quicksilver 3 blade stainles, on his crestliner 1750 fishhawk. Mercury has a rubber hub kit that you also need to buy with it. I think it was around $380 for everything. He did take his boat to a shop in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. They let you test the props before you buy. It was the fastest prop for his, while staying in the correct rpm range. It was 5mph faster than any other he tried on his boat. I am also running the same prop on my 90 hp johnson, alumacraft navigator 165. I bought and tested mine from the same place. It was roughly 4 mph faster than any other that I tried also. It seems to give a lot more lift on the boat.Good luck.
